FIHRM 2018: “It was inspiring, empowering and educating”

FIHRM 2018 conference in collaboration with ICOM International Committee for Collecting (COMCOL) and hosted by the Canadian Museum for Human Rights took place from 24-27 September in Winnipeg.

The conference brought together many international voices, including speakers from Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Africa, Argentina, Japan, Taiwan, USA, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy to talk about the power of collections, challenges around interpretation and representation, particularly when faced with sensitive or contested material.

Dr Alina Grimova from the Jewish Museum in Berlin said of the conference, “Thank you very much for organising this amazing event. For me it was inspiring, empowering and educating. The conference brought me forward in terms of networks as well as content.”
